Eight mascots. One is the default. None of them speak.

A flavour is a whole personality for the boot screen: the mascot beside the memory count, the firmware and vendor lines, the one part the BIOS detects, and the quips. Switching is one command, and the machine reboots as somebody else.

What a flavour is

One TOML file and one sprite. The file carries the mascot's name, the firmware banner, the copyright line, the board revision, the trailing joke on the processor line, the one part a BIOS would detect and what it finds, the boot streak wording, the footer serial, and at least three one-line quips. It can also rephrase each health check finding in its own voice: the same forgotten dev server is an IRQ conflict to the unicorn, an illegal hold to the luchador and someone in the rafters to the ninja.

Add your childhood mascot

If the creature or object you grew up with is not on the list, it should be. The format is in docs/flavours.md, the tone is in docs/voice.md, and the house rules are in CONTRIBUTING. The rules that matter most: the machine never knows it is funny, every diagnostic line must be true, and the mascot is hardware. It is detected, it is never cute, and it never speaks.

Where the terminal can draw images (Ghostty, kitty) the mascot is a real image. Everywhere else no mascot shows and the rest of the screen sits flush left in its place.
